The Historical Society serving Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown will hold its Annual Meeting Thursday, April 25 at 7 PM at CITIBANK located on the corner of Broadway and Main Street in Tarrytown. Citibank occupies the historic structure that was built in 1898 by the Westchester County Savings Bank. Expanded and modernized over the years, it has been used as a bank since its beginnings.
Three trustees will be elected to the Historical Society Board as well as five officers. The featured speaker will be John Laurence Busch author of Steam Coffin/ Captain Moses Rogers and the Steamship Savannah Break the Barrier.
Independent historian John Busch will discuss the 1819 voyage of the Savannah across the Atlantic and this often overlooked event’s importance to American maritime history, technological innovation, and the coming age of the steamship.
